The Beginning

We met by chance at a birthday slash Halloween costume party for Ashlee’s then model agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ashlee spotted Corey across the room, and Corey came and sat down beside Ashlee and they began to discuss a common interest, snowboarding. It was October of 2010 and the weather was just starting to turn cold, and snow was beginning to come into the forecast. A local ski hill was opening for the season the day after the party, and we agreed to go together. From that point on, it’s history.

The Engagement

It was the end of fashion week in Paris, 2015. On a whim, we decided to take a trip to the Greek island of Santorini. So we flew from Paris to Athens, and took an 8 hour ferry ride to the remote volcanic island. Corey had already had the ring at this point, and had been keeping it with him in case a spontaneous opportunity to propose came up. This was the perfect fit. We rented four-wheelers, and were exploring the island, when we came upon a dirt road. We stopped, and both agreed to go down it to explore further. We zig-zagged down this dirt road, and it led us to what appeared to be a private beach (later came to find out that beach was named Kambia Beach). The waves were huge, and no one was around. So we parked our ATVs and started to explore the beach. Ashlee was looking for rocks, as she typically does when abroad, because she likes to bring back unique ones for her father to collect. Corey knelt down, as if he was picking up a stone, and looked up at Ashlee and said “How about this rock?” with the ring in hand. “Will you marry me?”

The Wedding

We both have very busy lives and schedules that tend to change with the wind. Not only was it hard for Corey to plan a proposal, but it also wasn’t easy for us to schedule our wedding! We both wanted it to feel like home. A place that felt familiar. A place that family could gather and feel warmth and love and create everlasting memories. We decided to have it outdoors on a farm in Minnesota, who’s roots date back hundreds of years. Find out more about the wedding here.

The Future

It’s 2018. Our lives will officially become one this year. Both of our schedules are still very busy and random, however, we both hope to settle down soon after the wedding, buy a house, and start a family. The million dollar question is where- and when. These are both still up in the air and depend on how the rest of this year goes for us career-wise.
