Grand Canyon

I was hired for a job in Las Vegas. I have been once for my sister’s wedding, but it had been a while. Ash had never been, so I brought her with! We decided to extend our trip and visit the Grand Canyon – something I’ve always wanted to see and neither of us have been. It was breathtaking to say the least. Very awe inspiring and something you have to see with your own eyes – no photograph can do it justice.

We ended up meeting up with Ashlee’s brother Kevin and his wife Madison, as they were wrapping up a weeklong hiking trip around the Southwest. Together we hiked a 6 mile round trip down into the canyon from the South Kaibab Trailhead. We hiked to Skeleton Point and back. Ash and I stayed at Mather Campground in a rented van that we converted into basically a campervan. It had stow and go seats that we folded into the floor, and put down some cheap Wal-Mart sleeping pads and slept in the back! The reason we didnt have any camping gear with us, is that this was a last minute job that came up, and we were in Charleston, SC visiting family, and didn’t have any camping gear with us. So we flew straight from Charleston to Vegas.

I would go back in a heartbeat, and would recommend a visit to anyone.
