Buckingham Palace

Today’s weather was not to love. It was really, really windy, rainy, and cold. Given this weather situation, and that it was Sunday, we slept in late, until around 11am. We woke up hungry so we headed towards a place we came across the other day, called The Counter Cafe. It’s in Hackney Wick, right across the river from the Olympic Stadium. The area seems very industrial with a lot of artists, graffiti, and warehouses. I opted for the poached egg on top of a crispy potato cake, with salmon on top, with a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.

Ash got scrambled eggs with cherry tomatoes, basil, and salmon on top with a steamed soymilk (which no one understands how to make here).

After we ate, we attempted to walk across the river to the Olympic Park, but it was far too windy and cold.

After coming home and tidying up our room, we spontaneously left for Buckingham Palace. We hopped on a couple of trains, and arrived at Green Park

Personally, Buckingham Palace was less epic than I expected. It was more of a tourist destination and designed and barricaded off as such than actually seeing a “palace” in its natural state. Although, there were some cool things about it. The fences, black and gold and very large, with crazy designs on the entrance gates were amazing. The classic guardsmen with the tall black hats were fun to see. We missed the “Changing of the Guard” which is apparently exciting to see in itself, but we’ll head back another day. As we left, we walked through St. James Park along the water which is stocked full of different birds, ducks, geese, swan, and pelicans, all of which were definitely used to humans and weren’t afraid to come right up to you. I’ll leave you with some photos from the rest of the day.

Dinner was at this place called Cafe de Pierre. They don’t seem to have a website, but it’s right across from Green Park. The place was amazing! We randomly stumbled across it and it turned out to be incredible. We will definitely be back! For an appetizer we got minestrone soup. Ash got duck and pear salad, and I got ravioli. For dessert, I couldn’t help myself and got a Belgian waffle with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup on top.

And here’s some photos from the way home.

Today I loved dinner at the cafe, and kissing Corey under the trees of St. James Park as it was raining.

Today I loved dinner at the cafe as well. It was a nice random surprise because we weren’t sure what we were going to do for dinner and just stumbled across this fantastic place that we will definitely be back to.
